DailyCut Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 October 2026 · applies to dailycut.ai and the DailyCut editor
DailyCut is a video editor and a Daily Letter LLC product (“DailyCut”, “we”). This policy explains what information DailyCut handles when you visit dailycut.ai and when you use the editor, why, where it goes and how long we keep it.
1. The short version
- Your videos, transcripts, captions and exports are yours. We use them to run DailyCut for you, to handle safety reports and to meet legal obligations.
- Projects become eligible for automatic deletion 60 days after your last activity on them, and you can delete your projects yourself at any time.
- We don’t sell your information or show ads, and we use no advertising trackers.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. DailyCut never receives your full card number.
- DailyCut is for people aged 18 or older.
2. Your DailyCut account
Creating an account. You give us your email address. DailyCut’s sign-in service (SOMEONE ID at id.followsomeone.com, which also provides sign-in for other products from the same owner) emails you a single-use link to confirm it. While that link is outstanding, DailyCut keeps the address and the link’s one-time verification values; that record is deleted when the link is used, or within about a day after it expires (15 minutes after it is sent). If the address already belongs to an account, the link signs you in to that account — no second account is created.
What DailyCut stores. Your account identifier (an opaque ID) and your confirmed email address, with when it was confirmed. We use the email address to identify your account, for support and for billing receipts from Stripe. We don’t store your name or a password — there isn’t one.
Passkeys (optional). If you add a passkey, it is created by your device and registered with the sign-in service; DailyCut never receives your fingerprint, face or screen-lock data.
Sessions. DailyCut keeps you signed in with a session cookie that lasts up to 7 days; signing out ends the session. Only a one-way hash of the session is stored.
Deleting your projects does not delete your DailyCut account. To ask about deleting your account, email press@dailyletter.tv. When the sign-in service asks whether DailyCut still holds data for an account, DailyCut answers only “yes” or “no” — “yes” while it keeps projects, a subscription that has not fully ended, or material preserved under section 9.
3. What you put into DailyCut
- Uploaded media: the video, audio and image files you upload, with technical details such as file name, size, length, resolution and whether a file has sound.
- Transcripts and captions: when you choose “Auto captions”, the audio is transcribed (section 4) and the words and their timings are stored with your project. Your caption settings are stored in the project.
- Templates and brand assets: the templates you save (settings only: format, layout, caption style, font, brand colours, logo placement and export options) and the logo images you upload to use in them. Logos are stored once and are visible only to you; templates and videos refer to them rather than copying them.
- Projects and edits: your project name and the edit itself — scenes, cuts, layouts, text and caption settings.
- Exports: the MP4 files DailyCut renders for you.
- Share links: exports are private until you create a share link. Anyone who has a share link can watch and download that export until you turn the link off, the export is deleted, or your subscription stops being active.
- Share everywhere: when you press Share everywhere on a finished export, DailyCut makes a one-time link that opens ShareSomeone, the SOMEONE family’s app for posting to social networks. Only ShareSomeone, signed in as your own SOMEONE account, can use it; it works once and expires after 30 minutes if unused. ShareSomeone then copies that one export (the video, with its size, dimensions and length) into its own private temporary storage. Nothing is posted until you choose where in ShareSomeone and press its share button; ShareSomeone’s privacy policy covers the copy from then on. DailyCut keeps a record that the link was made and used, deletes the link itself after 7 days, and never makes the export public. Sharing doesn’t use your monthly hours or change when the project is deleted.
Your files are stored privately. They are served only to you, through short-lived signed links while you’re signed in, and to people you give a share link to. Your browser keeps a small note on your own device so an interrupted upload can resume; it is removed when the upload finishes.
4. How we use it
We use this information to provide DailyCut: to store and play your files, transcribe and caption them, apply your edits, render and deliver exports, apply the plan’s usage allowances and storage limits and the paid-access rules, keep the service secure, handle abuse and safety reports, and meet legal obligations. DailyCut limits how many projects an account can create per day; for this it keeps a one-way (hashed) value derived from your account ID.
Usage records. To apply your monthly allowances, DailyCut records, for each usage period, the length of each recording it accepts, the length of each export that finishes, and each transcription (or reuse of an earlier one) — with the file or export it relates to, never its content. Storage use is measured from the files actually stored.
Automatic transcription. When you choose “Auto captions”, DailyCut cuts the audio of that file into 10-minute segments and sends each segment to Cloudflare Workers AI, which runs a speech-recognition model (Whisper large-v3-turbo). Temporary audio segments are deleted after each one is transcribed. A finished transcript is kept with the project and remembered, for your account only, by the file’s content and language, so the same recording isn’t transcribed again; it is deleted with the project. DailyCut’s pause detection (Magic Cut) runs in DailyCut’s own processing and does not use an AI model. DailyCut uses no other AI service.
AI training. DailyCut does not use your uploads, transcripts, captions or exports to train AI models.
Staff access. Authorized DailyCut personnel may access user information only when reasonably necessary to provide and support the service, for security and fraud prevention, to investigate abuse or safety reports, to enforce the Terms and Acceptable Use Policy, to comply with valid legal obligations, and to maintain and operate the service. Staff support tools show account, subscription and usage details, not the content of your projects; every staff action is recorded.
5. Payments
What Stripe handles. Checkout, billing and the billing portal are provided by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details, billing name and address and, if you give one, a tax ID, and calculates tax with Stripe Tax. Stripe processes and keeps this information under its own privacy policy. DailyCut never receives your full card number.
What DailyCut sends and stores. We send Stripe your DailyCut account ID and your confirmed email address so your subscription is linked to your account and receipts reach you. We store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, your plan (monthly or yearly), the subscription status, the end of the current and of the paid period, whether the subscription is set to cancel, whether access was revoked because a payment was refunded or disputed, and the IDs of the Stripe events DailyCut has processed.
6. Website, cookies and analytics
dailycut.ai loads no advertising scripts. Its public pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics: a script from Cloudflare counts page views and measures page performance (such as the page address and loading times) and reports them to Cloudflare. Cloudflare’s documentation states that Web Analytics uses no cookies or other browser storage and does not fingerprint visitors. The editor’s pages do not load it.
DailyCut’s own sign-up counts. To see where people get stuck signing up, DailyCut records a few step names — such as “started sign-up”, “confirmed email”, “viewed the plan”, “started checkout”, “created a first project” — with the time. Each is linked only to a one-way (hashed) value of your account ID or, before you have an account, of a random identifier kept in your browser for that tab session. Never your email, file names or project content.
DailyCut sets one cookie — the sign-in session cookie described above — and no analytics or advertising cookies.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the address requested, to deliver the service and protect it from attacks. DailyCut uses your IP address, without storing it, to rate-limit sign-up emails, uploads and other actions. Request logs are kept by Cloudflare for troubleshooting for up to 7 days under our current Cloudflare plan.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that run DailyCut for us, for that purpose:
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage of your files and project data, video processing, request logs, website analytics for the public pages, sending sign-in emails, and speech recognition (Workers AI).
- Stripe — payments, tax calculation and the billing portal.
When you press Share everywhere, the export you chose goes to ShareSomeone, another SOMEONE product, for your account only (see “Share everywhere” above). Anyone you send a share link to can see that export. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
8. Organizations (DailyCut Enterprise)
If your account belongs to an organization on DailyCut Enterprise, your usage counts toward your organization’s shared monthly allowance.
9. Abuse reports and child safety
Anyone can report a shared video. A report records the video it concerns, the reason, any details the reporter writes and, if they give it, the reporter’s email address. To stop report flooding, DailyCut stores a one-way (hashed) value derived from the reporter’s IP address, not the address itself. Staff review reports and may turn off a share link, delete an export or suspend an account.
A report of child sexual abuse material takes the share link down immediately and is reviewed first. From that moment the project it concerns is preserved: it cannot be deleted by its owner, by “delete all”, or by automatic retention, and no new share link can be made for it. The preservation ends only when DailyCut staff dismiss the report or release the preservation hold; a release is recorded with who released it, when and why.
10. How long we keep it
- Projects (media, transcripts, captions, edits and exports) become eligible for automatic deletion 60 days after your last activity on them — an edit, an upload, captions, Magic Cut, an export, a share link or choosing “Keep”. Opening a project without changing anything doesn’t count. Projects preserved under section 9 are not deleted.
- Exports are deleted 60 days after they are made, which also ends their share links (unless preserved).
- Unfinished uploads are removed after about 24 hours; our storage provider also discards incomplete uploads after 7 days.
- Templates and logos are kept until you delete them (Templates page) or ask us to delete your account; they are not projects, so the 60-day project rule does not apply to them. A logo can’t be deleted while a project that uses it is preserved under section 9.
- Sessions expire after 7 days. Email-link records are deleted when used, or within about a day after they expire.
- Your account record (ID and confirmed email) is kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- Usage records, subscription records, processed-payment-event records, sign-up step counts and abuse reports are kept after your projects are deleted.
- Database recovery window: DailyCut’s database keeps a rolling 30-day point-in-time recovery history (Cloudflare D1 Time Travel). Records deleted from the database can remain in that history for up to 30 days. DailyCut makes no copies or backups of your files themselves.
11. What you can delete, and your requests
- With a subscription: delete a project (with all its files, transcripts and exports) or a single uploaded file, and turn share links off.
- Without a subscription: from your account, see your projects and delete any of them, or all of them at once.
- Material preserved under section 9 can’t be deleted until the preservation ends.
- Billing: manage or cancel your subscription in the Stripe billing portal from your account.
- Other requests — access, correction, deletion of records you can’t delete yourself, or your DailyCut account: email press@dailyletter.tv.
12. Security
Your files are stored privately and served only through short-lived signed links or your share links. Sign-in uses single-use email links or passkeys over a standard, verified protocol; session cookies are HTTP-only and secure, and only a one-way hash of each session is stored. Payments and card data stay with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
13. Age
DailyCut is for people aged 18 or older. DailyCut does not verify age; you confirm you are 18 or older when you subscribe. We do not offer accounts for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Where data is processed
DailyCut’s database and file storage are located in the United States. Cloudflare and Stripe may process information in other locations as needed to operate and support the service.
15. Changes and contact
When we change this policy we update the date above. For material changes, we show a notice in DailyCut to signed-in users. Questions or requests: press@dailyletter.tv.
